The Christening Ceremony

I recently had both my children christened in a combined christening celebration.

So just for those wondering, I' actually not religious but I believe in faith and religious faith is important to my Husband's side of the family. I was actually brought up with parents that didn't have any religious preference, although I went to a catholic school. I myself was never even christened but for me a christening is as much a celebration of life and love as it is a sacrament to god.

We were so very lucky to have found the most caring and genuine pastor we could have ever wished for at the Lutheran City Church.

Here are some cherished moments from the amazing ceremony experience. Also we hired an amazingly talented duo to sing 5 beautiful songs too! They are called Eli and Dave and their voices were truly those of angels!

Here were the verses we choose for the ceremony: Manon “For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be sweet to your soul, a sound mind will guard you, and understanding will guard you,” Proverbs 2:10-11

Explanations The sentence comes from the book of Proverbs, which deals with correct and sensible behavior in order to find a good path in life for oneself and others. Such a way is called "wise," and accordingly the book of Proverbs contains hints and admonitions on how to find such "wisdom" in life. This chapter describes what it looks like when a person sincerely seeks this wisdom. He or she no longer has to ask anxiously before every decision whether it is right, but the awareness of being on the right path shapes heart and soul. He or she feels supported and protected. A child at the beginning of its life still has a lot of knowledge and the search for a successful life ahead of it, but even those who are baptized in adulthood ask about their previous and future life. If the questions about a good and right life are particularly important to you, you will find a good baptismal saying here.

Manon was a but wingey during her Baptism but she did it!

But she looked divine!

My Dad was very emotional too - not a dry eye in the house!

Handing him over to his beautiful godparents

Henley"Let all your things be done in love!" 1 Corinthians 16:14

Explanations This request is found at the end of the first letter of the apostle Paul to the church in Corinth. Before Paul greets some of the people personally, he gives some good advice. Love has always been a particularly important Christian value. Especially when you find yourself in a situation where you might have to choose between this value and another - maybe loyalty - it can be good to remember these words. If you want to pass this value on to your child, you will find a suitable baptismal motto here.Let me know if you need anything else.
